RepRap M6 hardened nozzle for abrasive 1.75 mm filaments

The Micro Swiss Plated A2 Hardened Tool Steel Nozzle is a RepRap-style M6 nozzle built for 1.75 mm filament and a 0.8 mm extrusion width. It is designed to improve nozzle life when printing with abrasive composite and metal-filled materials that can wear softer nozzles quickly.

This version is made from A2 tool steel, heat treated to 57-62 RC, and finished with TwinClad XT plating. That combination gives the nozzle a hard, wear-resistant surface for demanding filament types.

Key features of the plated A2 tool steel nozzle

  • RepRap-style M6 format: Fits setups that use the common RepRap nozzle pattern with M6 threading.
  • A2 tool steel construction: Built from hardened tool steel for improved durability over standard brass nozzles in abrasive applications.
  • Heat treated to 57-62 RC: The specified hardness supports longer service life under high-wear printing conditions.
  • TwinClad XT plated surface: The plated finish adds an additional layer of wear resistance.
  • 0.8 mm nozzle diameter: Suitable for higher-flow printing and larger extrusion widths.

Use cases for abrasive and filled filaments

This Micro Swiss nozzle is intended for users printing with materials that contain abrasive additives. Carbon fibre, stainless steel, wood-filled, and other metal-filled filaments can erode conventional nozzles, and this hardened option is made to better withstand that wear.

A 0.8 mm nozzle size also suits projects where larger layer widths, faster material deposition, or more forgiving flow with filled materials are preferred.
