What this nozzle is for

The Micro Swiss Plated Wear Resistant High Flow Volcano Compatible / Artillery Sidewinder nozzle is a 0.8 mm nozzle for 1.75 mm filament, built to improve durability when printing abrasive materials. It combines a 360 brass base with a TwinClad XT coating to provide low friction, wear resistance, and longer service life than a standard brass nozzle in demanding use.

Key features of the plated wear resistant nozzle

  • 360 brass base material: Brass supports consistent heat transfer while maintaining the familiar performance characteristics expected from a brass nozzle.
  • TwinClad XT coating: This nickel composite coating is designed for very low friction.
  • Low coefficient of friction: The coating offers one of the lowest coefficients of friction, noted as better than nickel with PTFE codeposit.
  • Hard and abrasion-resistant surface: The plated finish helps reduce wear from demanding composite filaments.
  • 0.8 mm high flow orifice: The larger opening supports higher material flow and is suitable for applications where a larger extrusion width is preferred.

Why use a wear resistant nozzle for abrasive filament

Abrasive filaments can wear standard nozzles quickly, which changes the nozzle opening over time and can affect print consistency. The Micro Swiss plated nozzle is intended to greatly improve nozzle life when working with Carbon Fiber, Stainless Steel, wood filled, or other metal filled filaments.

Common use cases for a 0.8 mm Volcano compatible nozzle

  • Carbon fibre filament printing: A harder, abrasion-resistant nozzle surface helps reduce wear during extended runs.
  • Wood filled and metal filled materials: The plated finish is better suited to composites that are rough on standard brass nozzles.
  • Higher flow printing: The 0.8 mm orifice is suitable for users who want a larger nozzle size for faster material deposition.
  • Artillery Sidewinder and Volcano-style setups: This nozzle is intended for compatible 1.75 mm hotend systems using a Volcano-compatible format.
