What the E3D Hemera Hot Side Does

The E3D Hemera (formerly Hermes) Hot Side is the high-performance, all-metal hotend section of the E3D Hemera direct-drive extrusion system. It is built for precise and reliable 3D printing, with thermal management that supports stable extrusion and high-temperature material use.

This hot side is designed to work as the melt and nozzle assembly within the Hemera system, helping deliver controlled filament flow and consistent print results.

Key Features of the E3D Hemera Hot Side

All-metal hotend construction for high-temperature printing

The all-metal design improves durability and heat resistance. That construction supports common and engineering-focused materials including PLA, ABS, PETG, Nylon, and Polycarbonate.

Stainless steel heatbreak for reduced heat creep

A custom-machined stainless steel heatbreak is used to reduce heat creep inside the hotend. By limiting unwanted heat transfer, the heatbreak helps prevent filament from softening before it enters the melt zone.

Up to 300°C with a stock heater cartridge

The Hemera Hot Side can reach temperatures up to 300°C with a stock heater cartridge. That temperature capability expands material options and supports printing with high-flow and high-strength filaments.

Precision-machined nozzle and heater block

The precision-machined nozzle and heater block are designed to provide smooth and reliable extrusion. This helps maintain steady material output through the hotend during printing.

How the Hemera Hot Side Improves Direct-Drive Printing

When paired with the E3D Hemera extruder, this hot side supports direct-drive extrusion. That setup helps enable minimal retraction, reduced filament grinding, and improved overall print quality.

  • For flexible and controlled extrusion: direct-drive pairing helps keep the filament path short and responsive.
  • For engineering materials: the all-metal build and 300°C capability support higher-temperature filament processing.
  • For reliable everyday printing: the heatbreak, heater block, and nozzle work together to improve thermal control and extrusion consistency.
