What the E3D Super Volcano 80W Heater Does

The E3D Super Volcano 80W heater is a 24V extra-long heater cartridge made specifically for the E3D SuperVolcano block. It is designed to deliver the power required by the SuperVolcano HotEnd to support the highest flow rate possible.

The heater cartridge uses a 47.50mm body that runs the full length of the SuperVolcano block. That full-length fit is central to how the heater is intended to perform in the SuperVolcano system.

Key Features and Functional Benefits

  • 80W power output: Provides the higher power needed for SuperVolcano high-flow printing applications.
  • 24V operating voltage: Built for 24V printer systems using the correct supporting electronics.
  • Extra-long 47.50mm heater cartridge: Extends through the full length of the SuperVolcano block for the intended thermal setup.
  • Purpose-built for SuperVolcano: Designed specifically around the needs of the SuperVolcano HotEnd rather than as a general-purpose heater cartridge.

Installation and Handling Notes

The 24V heater cartridge is not supplied with a MOSFET. Because the current draw is 3.9A, E3D recommends using a 4-wire MOSFET and checking the control board manual for amp ratings before use.

MOSFET sold separately.

This heater cartridge must not be used with any block other than the SuperVolcano block. Using the heater with another block may result in catastrophic failure of the system.

Wire handling also matters during installation. When bending the heater wires, use a round form where possible to create a bend radius, and add adequate strain relief so repeated flexing does not fatigue or snap the wires.

Where the SuperVolcano Heater Fits Best

This heater cartridge is suited to SuperVolcano builds where very high material flow is the goal. It is intended for users replacing a worn heater, assembling a compatible SuperVolcano setup, or maintaining a high-throughput extrusion system built around the E3D SuperVolcano block.

For safety and technical reference, the full health and safety information is available in the SuperVolcano datasheet.
