Bambu Lab H3C multi-material 3D printer
The Bambu Lab H3C is a multi-material 3D printer with nine independent PrintTool paths, fast material switching, and a 330 × 320 × 325 mm usable build space. It brings multiple materials and tool processes together in a single print workflow.
Multi-material printing and tool switching
- Nine dedicated material paths: Each PrintTool has its own filament path and heater, keeping materials loaded and ready without retracting one filament before loading another.
- Fast changes: Active preheating warms the next nozzle while the current one is printing, enabling PrintTool changes in as little as 6 seconds.
- Low purge: The product features cite a 0.038 g low-purge figure and minimal purge per material swap.
- Automated multi-process tool switching: The H3C can print, cut, draw, and deboss hands-off.
Flexible TPU, mixed nozzle sizes, and filament handling
- FlexFeed for soft TPU: FlexFeed supports 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm filament, with TPU as soft as 75A and up to three times the flow rate of traditional printers.
- Mixed nozzle sizes: Different nozzle sizes can be used in one print, with Bambu Studio’s mixed-diameter toolpath planning algorithm allowing each nozzle to use a suitable layer height.
- Enclosed filament system: Filament storage and feeding are automated inside the machine.
- On-demand drying: Built-in filament drying is specified for PA, PC, and CF-filled materials.
- Chamber climate control: Active chamber heating and cooling supports work with engineering materials.
Applications for multi-material 3D printing
The H3C’s material and tool options suit detailed colour work, flexible prints, and designs that combine rigid and soft sections. Example applications include a CMYKW colour-mixed floral frame, a multi-colour TPU bag, flexible footwear, and a print-in-place articulated model.
Mixed nozzle sizes can also combine fine detail with larger structural areas in a single project, while automated tool switching supports multi-process projects involving printing, cutting, drawing, or debossing.
The H3C is stated to comply with EU RED Article 3.3(d)(e) and ETSI EN 303 645 V2.1.1:2020 cybersecurity requirements.
