High-Performance Carbon Fiber Nylon for Demanding Prints

Spectrum PA6 CS20 is a premium carbon fiber–reinforced nylon filament engineered for users who need exceptional strength, rigidity, and thermal resistance. With 20% carbon fiber content, this filament delivers industrial-grade performance while remaining accessible to advanced hobbyists, prosumers, and professional users.

Designed for functional prototyping and end-use parts, this material offers a perfect balance between mechanical durability and dimensional stability—making it ideal for demanding applications where standard filaments fall short.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Carbon Fiber Reinforced (20%)
Increased stiffness, strength, and structural integrity compared to standard nylon
  • Excellent Thermal Resistance
Maintains performance under high temperatures, suitable for mechanical environments
  • Low Warping vs Traditional Nylon
Improved print stability reduces failed prints and enhances dimensional accuracy
  • Matte, Professional Surface Finish
Naturally textured appearance that hides layer lines and enhances part aesthetics
  • High Strength-to-Weight Ratio
Ideal for lightweight yet durable components
  • Reduced Shrinkage
Better control over tolerances for functional parts and assemblies

Typical Applications

Spectrum PA6 CS20 is engineered for functional and performance-driven prints, including:

  • Mechanical components and housings
  • Automotive parts and brackets
  • Industrial tooling and jigs
  • Drone and RC parts
  • Structural prototypes
  • Engineering-grade functional assemblies

This filament is particularly suited for applications where strength, rigidity, and heat resistance are critical.

Material & Compatibility

PA6 CS20 is based on polyamide 6 (nylon) enhanced with carbon fiber, offering superior mechanical properties over standard PA6.

Compatibility considerations:

  • Works with most FDM/FFF 3D printers capable of high-temperature materials
  • Requires a hardened steel or abrasion-resistant nozzle due to carbon fiber content
  • Best used with enclosed printers for optimal thermal stability
  • Compatible with printers from leading brands such as Prusa, Bambu Lab, Creality (upgraded), and similar platforms designed for engineering filaments

Printability & Performance

Despite being a high-performance material, Spectrum PA6 CS20 is engineered for improved printability:

  • Reduced warping compared to standard nylon
  • Strong layer adhesion for durable parts
  • Consistent extrusion behavior for reliable prints
  • Good bed adhesion when used with appropriate build surfaces

Recommended considerations:

  • Dry filament before use (nylon is hygroscopic)
  • Use heated bed and enclosure for best results
  • Optimize retraction and cooling for carbon fiber blends

Why Users Choose Spectrum PA6 CS20

  • Reliable alternative to traditional nylon with easier handling
  • Excellent mechanical performance for real-world applications
  • Cleaner, more professional finish without post-processing
  • Trusted by engineers, makers, and print farms for functional output
  • Ideal balance between performance and printability

Spectrum PA6 CS20 FR V0 filament is a new flame-resistant construction material based on polyamide 6. The applied ceramic fillers enhance thermal stability without causing problems with processing. Thanks to the halogen-free flame retardant used, the UL-94 V0 flammability rating is achieved on ?0.4 mm thick printed parts. Spectrum PA6 CS20 FR V0 also has low moisture absorption, high temperature resistance and good electrical insulation. No heated chamber is required during printing and no distortion (shrinkage) occurs. The material is compatible with HIPS and PVOH support materials.

Is PA6 CS20 difficult to print?

It is easier to print than standard nylon but still requires proper settings, including a heated bed, enclosure, and dry filament for best results.

Do I need a special nozzle for this filament?

Yes, a hardened steel or abrasion-resistant nozzle is recommended because carbon fiber can wear down standard brass nozzles quickly.

What makes carbon fiber nylon better than regular nylon?

Carbon fiber reinforcement increases stiffness, reduces warping, improves dimensional stability, and creates a more professional matte finish.

Is this filament suitable for functional parts?

Yes, it is specifically designed for functional and load-bearing components requiring strength, rigidity, and heat resistance.

Does this filament absorb moisture?

Yes, like all nylon materials, it is hygroscopic and should be stored dry and dried before printing to ensure optimal results.

Can I use this on a standard 3D printer?

You can use it on printers capable of reaching high temperatures and equipped with the right nozzle and enclosure setup.
