Material & Compatibility

This filament is optimized for FDM/FFF 3D printers capable of processing engineering-grade materials such as nylon composites.

  • Compatible with open-material systems
  • Requires all-metal hotend for high-temperature printing
  • Hardened steel or wear-resistant nozzle recommended due to abrasive carbon fiber

Printing Characteristics:

  • Requires higher extrusion temperatures than PLA or PETG
  • Heated bed required for proper adhesion
  • Enclosure strongly recommended for best results
  • Low moisture tolerance—dry filament before printing for optimal performance
  • Reduced warping compared to pure nylon, but controlled environment still advised

Why Users Choose Spectrum PA6 CF15

Spectrum PA6 CF15 is a black, high-temperature PA6-based construction material modified to achieve better performance. Filling with carbon fibres increases significantly the mechanical strength of the polyamide the material is based on. The filaments specific quality is the moisture absorption reduced by half and the water absorption time is four times lower than that of the pure PA6. Printing does not require a heated chamber and no deformation occurs. The material is compatible with the HIPS and PVOH support materials.

What makes PA6 CF15 different from standard nylon filament?

PA6 CF15 contains 15% carbon fiber, which significantly increases stiffness, strength, and dimensional stability compared to regular nylon.

Do I need a special nozzle for this filament?

Yes, a hardened steel or wear-resistant nozzle is recommended because carbon fiber is abrasive and can wear down standard brass nozzles.

Is this filament suitable for beginners?

This filament is best suited for advanced users due to its high-temperature requirements and need for controlled printing conditions.

Does this filament absorb moisture?

Yes, nylon-based filaments are hygroscopic, so drying the filament before printing is important for optimal print quality.

What applications is this filament best for?

It is ideal for structural parts, mechanical components, tooling, and any application requiring high strength and heat resistance.

Do I need an enclosure to print PA6 CF15?

An enclosure is strongly recommended to maintain stable temperatures, improve layer adhesion, and reduce warping.
