Important notes

The Filament Track Switch is currently compatible with the X2D, H2D, and H2C. Support for the H2D is expected in the second half of 2026.

After installation, the number of AMS units that can be connected depends on the printer’s supported AMS expansion limit. Refer to the official specifications of the corresponding printer model for details.

For dual-nozzle printers such as the X2D, a single AMS can support dual-nozzle printing and filament switching between the left and right hotends when used with the Filament Track Switch. With only one AMS connected, the left and right hotends support alternate feeding only, not simultaneous feeding.

An external spool is not compatible with dynamic mapping through the Filament Track Switch. If an external spool is needed, the switch must be removed.

What printers work with the Filament Track Switch?

The Filament Track Switch is compatible with the X2D, H2D, and H2C.

How many AMS units can the X2D connect with the switch installed?

The number of AMS units is independent of whether the Filament Track Switch is installed. The X2D supports up to 4 AMS 2 Pro and 8 AMS HT units simultaneously, for 12 units and 24 slots in total, linked via the 4-in-1 PTFE adapter.

Can I use the 4-in-1 PTFE adapter with only two AMS units?

Using the 4-in-1 PTFE adapter with only two AMS units is strongly discouraged because the extra resistance during loading and unloading can affect print reliability.

Can the Filament Track Switch be used with an external spool?

No. An external spool occupies one extruder channel permanently, which prevents dynamic filament mapping from the AMS to both extruders. The switch must be removed if an external spool is used.

Are there filament restrictions with the switch?

Certain filaments, including PLA-CF, PLA Glow, and PLA Silk, are more sensitive to feed resistance and may fail to load or unload through the switch.

What if the Filament Track Switch is clogged?

Refer to the filament track switch disassembly and troubleshooting guide to clear the clog.

What should I do if filament gets stuck at the outlet?

Reconnect the PTFE tube between the switch and the filament buffer, install the pneumatic connector locking tab on the outlet, or replace the PTFE tube between the switch and the buffer.

Can the printer calibrate with the switch installed?

After installing the Filament Track Switch on the X2D, high-precision nozzle offset calibration cannot be performed. The switch must be removed to run this calibration.
