Important installation and slicer notes

Creality has recently updated the extruder stepper motor on some machines. Before ordering, check the extruder stepper motor gear. If the gear is pressed in, a new stepper motor will be required to complete installation.

After installing the Micro Swiss Direct Drive, slicer retraction settings must be changed. For Ender 3 series, retraction should be 1.5-2mm at 50mm/s. For CR-10 series, retraction should be 2.0-2.5mm at 50mm/s.

Do not exceed 3.0mm retraction distance. If retraction remains at 5.0-6.5mm, hot filament can be pulled into the heat break, harden when it reaches the cold side, and cause a jam.

Great product if you want to spend days getting it to work. The fan mount that MicroSwiss recommends you use with this is garbage and I had to duct tape the fans to it as there were no screw mounts for it. Had to try to make one myself, only slightly better results. Then you have to reprogram the firmware, which is beyond my scope of training, and didn't know going into this. To fix that, I made shims to tape on the unit to work better. Overall poorly executed setup.

I am very impressed with the Micro Swiss Direct Drive Extruder on my Ender 3 Printer. I have been using the Micro Swiss all metal hot end for several months now with no problems at all. Now after installing the micro Swiss Hot End and the Extruder together on my Ender 3 and I have seen a great improvement in the 3D models I print. The only change I made to the settings in Cura was I changed the retraction distance down to 1.25mm. As I said before I'm very impressed with my purchase of the Micro Swiss Hot End and Direct Drive Extruder.

Best direct drive option for the ender 3 on the market. No shims, great dual gear extruder included and very easy filament loading. Stepper extension cable could be of better quality but that is splitting hairs. There is a hero me remix for it and a great extruder knob on the verse.

I wanted to give back to the PSWs that take care of Grandma and heard about the Ear Savers which they could use. It is preferable to print in a soft bendable plastic and PTU seemed to be the best choice. So I invested in the Swiss-Micro Direct Drive print head system. It is beautifully machined and relatively easy to install. I did tests on PLA and the results were beautiful. Then came the tests with TPU. This is a very unforgiving medium and requires everything to be perfect to print well. Learned a lot by trial and error and don't think it would have worked cleanly without this direct drive head and the wonderful help of 3DPrintingCanada. I highly recommend both. The one suggestion I can give is that the small piece of PTF tube that you need to use, must be seated perfectly into the inside collar near the nozzle then slide the heat sync module up into the direct drive trimming the tube slightly to fit up almost against the feed gear and then, once the heatsync is locked down and in place, then cut the tube to exact fit. It needs to be very close to the gear and the.path has to be very straight with no chance of kinks or binding. Also slightly chamfer the tube to make loading easier.

Everything about this conversion screams quality. Solid cnc machined aluminum mount, quality fasteners, you name it. No 3d printed shims here. Sure it is a bit pricey, but trust in Micro Swiss. It is worth every penny. If you do not already have a Micro Swiss hot end, get the combo package it is a great deal!
